Charlotte-Douglas Airport

Multi-year new construction project that involved the complete construction of the third parallel runway and taxiway system at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

This project included fine-grading of existing subgrade, new base course material, new concrete, grooving, in-pavement and shoulder lighting, new associated vault building, underdrain and storm drainage construction, asphalt shoulders, seeding and sodding, and tie-in work to the existing airfield at the center runway and associated taxiways.

I-81 Reconstruction

Multi-year reconstruction project to reconstruct a new concrete overlay of approximately nine miles of four-lane divided interstate in Schuylkill County, for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

This project included traffic control for existing traffic, removal of old asphalt overlay and removal of the existing concrete and asphalt roadway, the installation of new underdrains and storm drainage, new base course, new concrete pavements, new exit ramps, new guardrail, new signs and electric signals, pavement markings, and environmental controls, including landscaping, seeding, and sodding.

Langley Air Force Base

Replacement of primary taxiway and construction of new East Parking Apron (for the F-22 Raptor).

This project included removal of existing taxiway, preparation of subgrade in both areas, new granular base course, new underdrains and storm drainage, new concrete and new asphalt shoulders. This also included in-pavement electrical and lighting, electrical duct bank work, aircraft tie-downs, pavement markings, and seeding and sodding.

Nashville International Airport

Hi-Way Paving was awarded the complete contract to reconstruct Runway 2R-20L at Nashville International Airport. The new runway was grooved and marked, flight tested by the FAA, and opened in August 2021.

Working with a number of partners and subcontractors, this project included the complete removal of the existing runway and associated taxiways; excavation, stabilization, and adjustment to the subgrade where required; installation of underdrains and storm drains; all new lighting; placing a new base course and concrete for the taxiway, runway, ARFF roads, and shoulder.
